A delightful combination of banana bread, rich chocolate, and espresso that creates an aromatic and flavor-packed loaf.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp espresso powder
- ½ cup olive oil
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs (room temp)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup ripe bananas (mashed)
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips + a few extra for the top
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips + a few extra for the top
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (for dusting chocolate chips)
- ¼ banana (2 long thin slices off of a banana)
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan.
- Mix the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, espresso powder) in a bowl.
- Whisk together the wet ingredients (olive oil, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla, sour cream, mashed bananas) until smooth.
- Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and top with extra chocolate chips and banana slices.
- Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
Use ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture. Store wrapped in cling film to keep fresh.
