- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat and stir in brown sugar and cinnamon until dissolved.
- Add the sliced bananas and vanilla, cooking until they caramelize slightly (about 2-3 minutes).
- Pour the banana mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Mix flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt in a bowl. Gradually stir in milk to form a batter.
- Fold in the nuts if using.
- Spoon the batter over the banana mixture in the baking dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Serve warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
